Your cyber insurance form asks whether you use sign-in codes, keep backups offline, protect every computer and train your staff. It’s easy to tick “yes” and hope. Insurers rely on those answers, and one that isn’t true can cause trouble if you ever need to make a claim. We check the security questions against what’s really in place, fix the gaps you agree to and give you dated proof for your renewal.
Law firms, medical and dental offices, accountants, insurance agencies, real estate offices and any small business that has cyber insurance, or is being asked by a client, landlord or lender to get it. Also for insurance brokers who want their clients’ answers checked before the form goes in.
Why this matters
The form asks. The answers count.
Insurers ask specific questions, and the answers become part of what they rely on.
WHAT THEY ASK
The questions are specific
Cyber insurance applications ask detailed questions. Corvus’s published application (version 3.2, September 2024) asks whether backups are kept offline, can’t be changed, and need a sign-in code to reach. A Travelers application (2019 edition) asks whether backup and recovery procedures are tested every year, and whether sign-in codes protect email and remote access. Your insurer’s current form may differ.
In 2022, after a ransomware attack, Travelers sued a small company to cancel its cyber policy. Travelers said the company had answered “yes” to using sign-in codes for administrator access, but only used them on its firewall. In August 2022 the court granted Travelers’ motion to cancel the policy and dismiss the case. We found no written decision on the facts, so it doesn’t mean every wrong answer cancels a policy, but it shows what can happen.
We don’t sell insurance, and we can’t promise approval, a lower price or that a claim will be paid. That’s between you, your broker and your insurer. What we can do is check your answers against what’s really in place, fix what you agree to and keep dated proof. This is about answers you can stand behind, not fear.
How it works
Check the answers. Fix. Keep proof.
We start with your last application or this year’s renewal questions and go through the security questions one by one.
Already have an IT company? We work alongside them and document what they’ve done. Your broker stays your broker.
1
Check every answer
Sign-in codes, backups, protection on computers, software updates, email security and staff training. For each question: what’s really in place, and can you prove it?
2
Fix the gaps
The fixes you agree to: turn on sign-in codes where they’re missing, protect the backups, close old remote access, with your IT company if you have one.
3
Keep the proof
Dated screenshots, settings reports, a restore test and training records, organized by the questions on the form, ready for your broker.

Free insurance proof call
Can you prove your answers?
Ask for a free insurance proof call. On a short call we go through the security questions on your last application or this year’s renewal, and, based on what you tell us, point out the proof to gather and the settings to check. No cost and no obligation. We reply within one business day.
If you want our help after that, you get what we’ll do, the timing and the price in writing before you pay anything.
Tell us your business name, how many people work there and when your renewal is due. Please don’t send your policy, your application or any passwords in the message.
It’s the extra step after your password, like a code on your phone or a prompt in an app. Insurers call it multi-factor authentication, or MFA, and the Corvus and Travelers applications ask about it in several places.
Do you sell insurance?
No. We don’t sell insurance or give insurance advice. We check and improve your security and keep the proof. Your broker handles the policy.
Will this lower my premium?
We can’t promise that. Insurers set their own prices. What we give you is dated proof of what’s in place, for your renewal conversation.
Will you fill in the form for me?
No. The answers on the form are yours to give and sign. We tell you what’s in place, with proof, so you can answer accurately. Your broker can help with the form itself.
Do I have to replace my IT company?
No. We can work alongside your IT company, check what’s in place and document it. If something needs fixing, we can do it or show them what’s needed.
How does this fit with your backup service?
The Corvus and Travelers applications ask about backups too. Our backup service includes regular restore tests and a dated report, which feed straight into your renewal pack.
What does it cost?
The renewal check is quoted after the free call, and the year-round plan is one monthly price. It depends on how many people and computers you have and how much needs fixing. You get the price in writing before you pay anything.
